Lookingglass Theatre, located in the heart of Chicago, is a performing arts institution that has captured the hearts of both locals and visitors alike since its inception. This Tony award-winning theatre company was founded by Northwestern University graduates and has been performing as an itinerant company for 15 years before being granted their current home in the Water Tower Water Works in 2001.

Lookingglass Theatre has a reputation for producing epic experiences in an intimate venue and presenting world-premiere literary adaptations. However, they are also known for their ensemble-based theatrical creations, circus and aerial arts, as well as summer camps and classes for students aged 18 months to 18 years. The company has produced more than 50 world premieres, and work premiered at Lookingglass has been performed all over the US.

Andrew White, the Artistic Director and a founding member of Lookingglass Theatre, has participated in the workshop and development of more than thirty Lookingglass original adaptations and world premieres. He wrote and directed the company's 1989 production of Of One Blood, about the 1964 murders of Schwerner, Chaney, and Goodman in Mississippi. In 2004, he wrote and directed an adaptation of George Orwell's 1984, which received a Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Adaptation. White also wrote the book and lyrics for the musical Eastland, which was produced at Lookingglass in 2012.
