Amezquita founded Mariachi Alma de Mexico in 2004 with the goal of upholding the finest Mariachi traditions while creating a new youthful and energetic group to bring Mariachi to the modern listener.

The group consists of nine unique members ranging from ages fourteen to twenty-five. All members were handpicked from hundreds of musicians all over the Bay Area to provide customers with the best possible musicianship. Mariachi Alma de Mexico is different from other Mariachi groups in that they allow both men and women to perform together, giving them a truly unique sound. They perform in the traditional traje de charro and currently have two trumpet players, one vihuela, one guitarron, one guitar, and five violinists.
