Located in the charming Herron-Morton Place neighborhood of Indianapolis, Footlite Musicals is a beloved community theater that has been entertaining audiences for over half a century. This non-profit organization presents seven mainstage Broadway musicals per year and offers a youth education program that covers all aspects of musical theater.

Founded in 1955 by a group of passionate performers, Footlite Musicals has been dedicated to presenting the best in avocational musical theater ever since. Over the years, the group has produced and rehearsed 50 musicals in a variety of high school auditoriums and theaters throughout the Indianapolis area. In 1974, Footlite found a permanent home when it leased the old Civic Theatre, which it renamed as the Hedback Community Theater. In 1976, the Hedback family generously donated the theater building and surrounding property to Footlite Musicals.

Today, Footlite Musicals is an all-volunteer organization, administered by a Board of Directors and several committees, with the support of a loyal membership paying nominal yearly dues. Productions are cast from open auditions, and no one in the cast or on staff is paid. This dedication and passion for the craft is evident in every performance put on by Footlite, which consistently receives rave reviews from audiences and critics alike.
