After working in International Marketing for over a decade, Maria Frallicciardi, with a degree in Design and Art History, decided that it was time for a change and gave entrepreneurship a chance.

Being a mom and a world traveler herself she noticed, from personal experience, that it was difficult to find stylish, age appropriate and well-made leather shoes that emphasized in good quality, comfort and durability for her own children.

With this in mind, in 2004 Elephantito was born.

Alexandra Penso, a hard-working mom with a degree in business, masters in economics and 15 years working in banking, joined Maria and together they expanded on their vision.

Over the years, the business grew, and in 2012 they opened a state-of-the-art shoe factory in South America equipped with brand-new Italian machinery in the hands of well trained shoe artisans.
