Candyland, located in the heart of Saint Paul, MN, has been a staple in the community since 1932. Candyland's history is rich with tradition. The shop was founded in 1932 by an unknown couple under the name "Flavo Korn Shop," which was simply a popcorn shop. In 1938, Arnie Kelsey purchased the business and expanded, adding bulk candies and chocolates. With this addition, he changed the name from "Flavo Korn Shop" to Candyland! Arnie successfully owned and operated Candyland for 43 years! In 1981, Doug Lamb and his wife Brenda, the current owners, bought the store from Arnie and have since evolved Candyland into something Arnie only ever dreamed of.
Doug and Brenda are still involved in the day-to-day operations of Candyland, along with their family. They have even created a product that is now known as a Twin Cities and even a nation-wide staple, Chicago Mix®, a combination of cheese, caramel, and regular popcorn.
