Berea Printing Company began in January 1967 as a part-time printing endeavor of father and son, Dick and Jim Dettmer. With a $400 initial investment, they purchased their first press, a used Multilith 1250, and put it in the basement of Dick's Eastland Road home in Berea. Once the necessary supplies were purchased, Berea Printing Company was ready for business.
Continuing the family tradition, Jim's son, Jeff Dettmer, now represents the third generation of the family to run Berea Printing Company. Born on Jim's last day at his previous job, Jeff basically grew up in the company but officially joined in 1995 after graduating with a business degree from Baldwin-Wallace College.
