Business Description

The Utah State University Museum of Anthropology is a treasure trove of culture and history in Logan, Utah. With exhibits spanning the globe, visitors have the opportunity to explore, discover and experience the world through interactive displays. Whether you're interested in music, history, or crime-solving, this museum invites you to explore the world of anthropology.

Founded in 1963 by Dr. Gordon Keller, the museum began as a collection of archaeological artifacts from the Southwest, Mesoamerica, and Peru. In 1981, Dr. Carol Loveland took over as Museum Director and rapidly expanded the collection and exhibits. Loveland also involved USU undergraduate students in the museum's work, establishing a student-oriented museum mission.

Since its public opening in 1984, the museum has continued to expand and improve. In 1992, it moved to its current location in the south turret of Old Main. Renovations in the mid-1990s added a larger exhibit gallery, a small curation room, protective exhibit lighting, and humidity control to promote better long-term care of museum objects. Today, all exhibits are conceived and built by USU students.

Executive Director and Curator, Dr. Wendy J. Brown, is passionate about communicating research through public programming and exhibitions in the museum. Her teaching and research interests integrate material culture in museum studies, geographic information science for the social sciences and humanities, and geophysical applications in archaeology.

The museum is popular with visitors of all ages. Children, in particular, will enjoy the many hands-on exhibits and the opportunity to learn through interactive displays. The museum is open Monday through Friday, and admission is free. If you're in the area, be sure to add the Utah State University Museum of Anthropology to your list of must-visit destinations.
