Business Description

Located in Keenesburg, Colorado, The Wild Animal Sanctuary is a 10,473-acre refuge for over 500 Lions, Tigers, Bears, Wolves, and other large carnivores that have been rescued from illegal or abusive situations. Founded by Pat Craig in 1980, The Sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates the animals and then releases them to live and roam freely in large acreage habitats.

The Wild Animal Sanctuary is not a zoo, but a true animal sanctuary that provides wide open spaces for rescued Lion prides and other rehabilitated animals to live and roam. Visitors can take advantage of the Sanctuary's "Mile Into The Wild" elevated walkway that traverses multiple habitats over 789 acres. The elevated platform gives visitors the opportunity to see roaming prides of Lions, groups of Tigers, and wolf packs running freely as they enjoy walking in a fresh and open country air setting.

If you are looking for a unique opportunity to experience nature and wildlife, The Wild Animal Sanctuary is an ideal place to visit. You can spend hours here, witnessing the remarkable work that they do. It's a great place to bring your family and friends, and you'll be supporting a great cause in the process.

The Sanctuary is located only 30 miles Northeast of Denver, Colorado, making it an easy drive from the city. It is also located just north of Denver's International Airport, so flying in for a visit is also a good option. The Wild Animal Sanctuary has relocated to this location and has grown substantially throughout the years. Today, 39+ years later, it is the largest carnivore sanctuary in the world!

Pat Craig's vision has led to the largest nonprofit carnivore sanctuary in the world rescuing Lions, Tigers, Bears, and other exotic animals that have been abused, abandoned, exploited, or illegally kept. He has also pioneered the art of building large acreage species-specific habitats, giving the rescued animals wide open spaces in which to roam. Pat's 40 years of experience in captive large carnivore behavior and sanctuary development have led to his becoming a leading expert in the field. He works hand-in-hand with the USDA, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Colorado Parks & Wildlife, and other law enforcement entities to help save captive wildlife.

In summary, The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado is a remarkable place to visit and witness the incredible work that they do. You can enjoy a unique experience with nature and wildlife and support a great cause in the process.
