The museum is an open-air space that celebrates the unique cobblestone construction style that was prevalent in Western New York between 1825 and 1860. Visitors have the chance to explore three impressive cobblestone structures that are set in Victorian appearance and four wooden structures that showcase agricultural implements and skilled trades from the 19th century.
Founded in 1960, the museum has been dedicated to preserving and promoting the study of cobblestone construction methods and history for over 50 years. The idea for the museum was born out of curiosity and passion for history when a local history teacher, Robert Frasch, wondered about the unique structures he encountered on his way to work. With the support of the community, including the Orleans County Historian, Cary H. Lattin, the museum came to life.
Visitors to the museum can expect to be transported back in time as they explore the cobblestone structures and learn about the skilled trades and agricultural practices that were prevalent during the 19th century.
