Standard Jiujitsu was founded in 2014 in Bethesda, MD and moved to Rockville, MD in its second year. Greg Souders, the owner and head instructor, started the Standard Jiujitsu project a decade ago when he began his training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. With a focus on competitive BJJ and a desire to be a lifelong practitioner, Souders built the Standard Jiujitsu program to be accessible to everyone. With a foundation of "focused training for the average practitioner", the program is built to suit all ages and abilities.
Souders, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under the late Dave “The Rock” Jacobs, started his training in 2004 with the goal of becoming a full-time competitor and world champion. After an injury to his spinal cord during a training session, Souders shifted his focus to coaching and sharing Jiu-Jitsu with his community. He has been teaching and coaching BJJ since he was a purple belt and works with each of his students personally because he believes that through hard work and dedication, all of his students can reach their goals.
Overall, Standard Jiujitsu is the perfect place to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling, no matter your skill level.
