The ministry started on May 13th, 2010, when a group of missionaries saw a need to rescue 17 children who were suffering in Kampala, Uganda. Today, Sozo Children has four children's homes and cares for 120 children. The name "Sozo" is a Greek word that means "to save" both physically and spiritually. As a united team of missionaries, donors, and those who pray, they strive to meet a child's every need including housing, medical care, quality education, good nutrition, and discipleship.

In May of 2015, Sozo Trading Company was opened as a means to sustain Sozo Children. By leveraging cost-effective resources, the store is able to model the life skills and self-sustainability it teaches to communities in Uganda. Today, Sozo Children is able to operate at a 0% administrative cost, making every dollar given through Sozo Children 100% to children and communities in need.
