The owners of Sodes Perk Central Coffee House & Cafe, Beth and Matt Sadewasser, have a passion for Iowa-made and homemade products. Beth's idea to open a business that would focus on these products came to her in 1989 when she participated in a farmers market. Raising a family and work left no time for starting a business, but the dream never died. In 2008, Matt and Beth purchased an old rundown limestone building and brought it back to life.

The name of the business, Sodes Green Acre, has meaning behind it. Sodes is a nickname for Sadewasser, and Green Acre came to Beth one day while she was in her garden. Matt and Beth live on a one-acre lot, and over the years, they have planted multiple fruit trees, grapes, berry bushes, flower and vegetable gardens. One year while harvesting, Beth stopped and marveled at how much this one little acre of land could produce, and it dawned on her what a perfect name for the business "Sodes Green Acre."
