The River Forest Manor & Marina is a historic waterfront mansion located in Belhaven, North Carolina. Commissioned in 1899 by John Aaron Wilkinson, the president of the J.L. Roper Lumber Company and vice president of Norfolk and Southern Railroad, the mansion took over five years to build. Constructed by talented tradesmen from throughout the state, it was adorned with crystal chandeliers and hand-carved plasterwork sculpted by the same Italian craftsman who contributed to the intricate designs at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville.
