Museum of Discovery, located in Little Rock, Arkansas, is the oldest museum in the state. It was opened by renowned Arkansas author Bernie Babcock in 1927 on Main Street as the Museum of Natural History & Antiquities. It featured a large collection of curiosities, including the well-publicized "Head of a Chicago Criminal". After moving to several different locations, the museum found its permanent home in the River Market in 1998 and was renamed Museum of Discovery.
In April 2011, the museum closed its doors to undergo a complete renovation funded by a $9.2 million grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. The museum reopened its doors in January 2012 in its current format.
