Chef and owner Carlo Rao brings a wealth of experience to the restaurant. Born in a tiny town called Orsigliadi in 1947, he grew up on a tiny farm in the Calabria region of Italy. After time in the Italian army, he moved to Torino, Italy to study at the White Arts Culinary School, where he learned the arts of bread and pastries. In 1974, Carlo left Italy to come to the United States. Living in the New York/New Jersey area, he worked in several bakeries and restaurants. After 15 years, he moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where he owned a restaurant on Virginia Beach from 1989-1991. Carlo sold his Virginia restaurant and moved farther south to land here in SW Florida. Carlo Rao has been preparing fresh delicious Italian food here for over 22 years.
