The history of Massimo Italian Bar & Grill is as authentic as its cuisine. The owner, Massimo, met his wife Cindy in Naples, Italy, over 28 years ago. Cindy, the daughter of an American Military officer, stayed with Massimo in Italy after her parents returned to the States. At this time, Massimo attended the Culinary Institute of Naples. Cindy and Massimo lived in Italy for over a decade as Massimo worked at some of Naples' finest restaurants.

In 1995, Massimo, Cindy, and their son Salvatore moved to Germany to open a restaurant with Massimo's brothers. Then in 1999, they traveled to Western Washington to open their own restaurant. On October 6th, 2003, they opened Terracciano Ristorante in Gig Harbor. Shortly after, Salvatore began training in the kitchen with Massimo and quickly became an accomplished Chef. After five great years at Terracciano's, Massimo, Cindy, and Salvatore sold Terracciano Ristorante to open a larger waterfront restaurant, Massimo Italian Bar and Grill Purdy in December 2008.
