Business Description
Sarah participated in a goat coop in New Mexico for four years--tending to two goats with several people and making cheese for friends and family--now the ratio is reversed--a few people caring for many goats! She studied "Essentials of Cheesemaking" at the Vermont Institute for Artisan Cheeses and took several cheesemaking classes with Vermont Cheesemaker Peter Dixon. Sarah also attended the UNH Agriculture and Natural Resource Business Institute.
Caring for the goats and tending to the cheeses bring together, in very concrete ways, the previous work Sarah has done in her life -- from mindfulness practice (she has a masters in Socially Engaged Buddhism), to agricultural policy work, to alternative economics. In New Mexico she worked as the Food Policy Coordinator for the New Mexico Acequia Association, served as Coordinator to the Rio Arriba County Food Policy Council, and contributed to the book, Harvesting Justice: Transforming Food, Land, and Agricultural Systems in the Americas.
