Originally from the rural North Sea coast of Germany, Kim set aside her original trade as a carpenter to attend art & design college.
Often butting heads with the instructors, Kim developed her own style of colorful expressive abstracts.
After a brief foray as a restauranteur, a visit to Cologne brought an opportunity to leave small-town life behind.
Cologne brought Kim her first big city exhibitions and press. She was soon designing sets and costumes.
In the late 90s, she met her husband. Joining him in San Francisco in 2001, she designed nearly 200 theatre productions in the Bay Area winning several awards for her designs.
She has worked with the biggest names in themed entertainment including Walt Disney Imagineering, NBC Universal, and Universal Studios Japan.
Her TV ad work has included McDonald's, DreamWorks, Pepsi Cola, and L'Oreal.
Kim has had exhibitions in both Europe & the U.S. She prefers large format and her abstract, expressive work emphasizes texture and color.
