RIVA BROWN: Calligrapher & Watercolor Artist
ARTISTS' STATEMENT: Prepare, then risk. Whether the project at hand is a Calligraphic Document, a Watercolor Painting or a combination of the two, the dynamic stroke is the holy grail of my work. Look for that courageous stroke somewhere in every composition.
Riva Brown has spent her career, beginning in 1976, as a Calligrapher, and Watercolor Painter, working for both individuals and businesses. Riva takes on any project that includes a Calligraphy or Watercolor component with a specialty in major documents such as Wedding Documents, Resolutions, and Retirement Scrolls. She was the recipient of a State of Delaware Fellowship Grant as an Established Professional in the category of Folk Artist for the creation of these pieces and has been described as a State Treasure. She is an approved wedding document creator for the Society of Friends. Riva and her husband Bill are co-owners of Living Letters Studio, at 1815 W 13 St.,
