Max E. Best, Jr., M.D.: Dr. Best was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He is a graduate of Keystone School and St. Mary's University. In 1966 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served honorably until 1971. Dr. Best received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed his internship at L.S.U. Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He then practiced family medicine until he resumed his Air Force career in 1985 serving as a Flight Surgeon until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2001. Dr. Best has become a highly experienced emergency medicine physician amassing more than 30,000 hours in Emergency Room service. He is a member of the Urgent Care Association of America, National Association for Ambulatory Care, the Texas Medical Association and the Bexar County Medical Society. Dr. Best has lived in Castroville for the past eleven years.
