Business Description
While in Ohio, Michael was a counselor and music director at Camp Joy in Clarkesville. Before becoming the director of JNSA, he was the director of the creative arts group "S.I.M.O.N. Says." In addition to his responsibilities at Jessye Norman, Michael is a choral director and instructor at Augusta Preparatory Day School. Also a performer, Michael does keys, guitar and vocals with two Augusta ensembles: "My Instant Lunch" and "Eleventhe Hour." "My Instant Lunch" was recently named the best new band in Augusta. He has been with JNSA since 2007.
Mr. Ray believes children need strong adult support to achieve their full artistic potential. He understands every student has a unique learning style and encourages teachers to be flexible and adaptable. His mission is to inspire and motivate students toward lifelong pursuit of the arts. Mr. Ray seeks to create an emotionally safe environment and expects students to work toward mastery of their individual art forms through committe
