Business Description

Jim Laber was raised in Tulare. After high school he joined the Navy where one of his jobs was as an Electronics Tech. Later he opened a yacht repair business in Dana Point. Then he met Ruby, who ran a press shop for the Tulare Office of Education. When they married, Ruby took a job in Dana Point managing a print shop. The two often traveled north to see family. On one trip, they heard about a print shop for sale. SoCal was a rat race, so they made an offer. Between Ruby’s print background and Jim’s tech / mechanical background, they were a perfect fit. Jim’s maintenance skills meant they didn’t have to hire outside help. When computerized printing came along, Jim’s electronics background gave him an edge over other shops. At first, Jim expected to be in the printing services industry for about five years. “I get bored, easily,” he said. But the industry changed so rapidly over the years he was both intrigued and interested. “That’s why I am still here,” he says. We’re glad.
