It was 1928 when Gerolomo Frumento, an immigrant from Genoa, Italy, along with his wife Madeline, opened an Italian grocery store called G. Frumento and Co. in downtown Los Angeles. Several decades later, after the success of the family business, their son began Frumento's market in Montebello, where the deli has been thriving ever since.
