Doodlet's, nestled in the charming city of Santa Fe, NM, is a one-of-a-kind gift shoppe that has been spreading joy and happiness for 64 years. They offer what they call "happiness essentials" -- items that make people smile and laugh. The shoppe's history is just as unique as the items they sell. It was founded and run by a mother and daughter duo, Helene "Ma" Ruthling and Theodora "Theo" Ruthling Raven. Ma came to the United States as a German immigrant and worked as a governess for the grandchildren of wealthy arts patron Mabel Dodge Luhan. Ma was affectionately known as "Doodles," and her daughter Theo was given the nickname "Doodlet" by Will Shuster, a beloved local painter and the creator of Zozobra. And that's how the shoppe ended up with its unusual, but perfect, name.

Doodlet's originally opened on West Palace Avenue and moved to its current Don Gaspar location a few years later when Theo purchased the now 120-year-old property. Theo owned the shoppe until 2010 when she sold it to Lisa Young, a Dallas native who had been captivated with Doodlet's since a family visit in 1965.
