Business Description

Nestled in Milford, Ohio, Cincinnati Nature Center is a non-profit nature education organization that has been enchanting its visitors since its establishment in 1965. With over 100,000 annual visitors, it is the largest member-supported nature center in the country. The center offers award-winning trails that wind through Eastern deciduous forests, fields, streams, and ponds. Rowe Woods, located just east of Cincinnati, spans 1,025 acres, including 65 acres of old-growth forest, and offers more than 16 miles of hiking trails.

Cincinnati Nature Center's Rowe Woods is home to the Marge & Charles Schott Nature PlayScape, where natural features are designed for open-ended creative play, allowing kids to dig in, splash around and have fun. The play area is a perfect spot for children to get their hands dirty and explore nature in a playful and interactive way.

The center offers admission to its visitors at a nominal fee of $9 for adults, $6 for seniors and military personnel with ID, $4 for children between 4 to 12, and free for children aged 3 and under. The hours vary by season, and visitors can check the website for current hours.

The center has grown to be one of the top nature centers in the country, while remaining true to its original mission of connecting people, especially children, to the natural world. The Krippendorf estate's 175-acre wooded estate was acquired in 1965, and in 1973, Neil McElroy, the then Chairman of P&G, and his wife donated Long Branch Farm in Goshen to CNC. Today, CNC's two sites, Rowe Woods and Long Branch Farm & Trails, encompass more than 1,600 acres of natural and agricultural land.

William H. Hopple III, Executive Director of Cincinnati Nature Center since 1996, is passionate about connecting people, especially children, to the natural world. Bill has a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in biology/ecology from Cornell University and a Masters of Science in biology/ecology from the University of Cincinnati. He is also a co-founder of the Leave No Child Inside - Greater Cincinnati collaboration, promoting the critical importance of all children having frequent experiences in nature for healthy physical, emotional, and intellectual development.

Overall, the Cincinnati Nature Center is a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature. With its winding trails, unique play area, and commitment to conservation, it's the perfect place for families to explore and learn about the natural world.
