Friou Cathey, Sr. and his wife Myrtle started the business on Stone Avenue, selling only vacuums. In the 1960s, the business expanded to include the sales and repair of sewing machines. Today, Cathey's has two locations, one on E. Speedway and the other on N. Oracle.
