Business Description
In 1983, after 24 years as a supply officer in the Navy, Mr. Alfred Clarke, with his wife Mary Clarke, started Mancon, Inc., a company which provides material support and logistics services to the federal government. In 1988, Mr. Clarke purchased an Airedale Terrier and his son Robert purchased a Labrador Retriever. Soon after, as a hobby, they began competing with them at dog shows. After attending several shows, Mr. Clarke discovered that the supplies needed to maintain "Show Quality Dogs" were difficult to obtain. Due to the lack of local dog product suppliers and the unreliability of catalog-based suppliers, Mr. Clarke decided to start his own pet supply company. Hence, the birth of Care-A-Lot® Pet Supply, specializing in providing hard to find items and providing excellent customer service.
