Business Description
Karl Keul was born in Bad Kissingen, Germany, in 1943. His father, an oil painter, and his mother, a homemaker, moved the family to North Carolina in 1950.
Karl came to the Washington area in 1965 and worked at a kitchen cabinet wholesaler. After four years, he joined a small kitchen-remodeling company in Arlington, where he worked as a designer for 17 years.
Karl and his wife, Bonnie, opened Cameo Kitchens in 1985. Over the years, Cameo has developed into a family business. Karl's brother, George, has been a kitchen designer at Cameo for nearly 20 years. Two of his three daughters are employees--Kelly is office manager, and Katie is secretary. Karl's son-in-law, Lee Duer, designs and orders Cameo's cabinets and material.
