Jesse Gerner is an Adelaide native who wound up in Newcastle and opened up his first restaurant business at the tender age of 24. He met his wife Vanessa and they then spent the next 2 years honing kitchen and front of house skills at London institutions Moro and The River Cafe.
Jesse fell in love with Spanish cuisine in London and had the enviable role of sourcing oils, cheese and Jamons from Spain for Moro every season. He then spent 6 months eating his way through Spain with Vanessa. They returned to Australia and decided they would open a restaurant in Melbourne. Anada in Gertrude St, Fitzroy, opened in doors in 2008 to acclaimed success. After four years they decided to open a CBD restaurant specialising in organic, locavore cuisine. The Aylesbury was an over night success, however the temptation to create Spanish cuisine was too much for Jesse. Hence Bomba was born. A return to the cuisine the Gerner's are most passionate about ensures a recipe for a great restaurant.
