Whether you’re sending your first gift, or redeeming your 20th, this guide covers the questions we hear most often so you can send or redeem a gift with confidence.
Giftly lets you send money to friends, family, and colleagues along with a suggestion for how to spend it quickly and easily. Together, the money and suggestion, are a Giftly. Recipients choose how to receive the money, selecting from a variety of options that make Giftly accessible to nearly everyone. While the Giftly comes with a suggestion for how to spend it, the recipient can spend the money where and how they want. These qualities make Giftly a convenient but personal gifting option that works for a wide range of gifting occasions.
If you need help with a gift now, use the Help Center to look up, resend, replace, track, or cancel a gift. For anything else, email support@giftly.com.
What should I know when reading Giftly reviews?
One of the most common reasons for confusion is the expectation that the suggested business accepts a Giftly Prepaid Gift the same way they would a traditional gift card. Giftly works differently: recipients first redeem their gift on Giftly.com and choose how they'd like to receive the funds. When they go to the business, the recipient chooses how to pay depending on how they redeemed their Giftly. For example, if they chose to receive a transfer to their bank account, they can pay using their debit card. If they chose to receive a Giftly prepaid Visa or Mastercard gift card, they can use that to pay.
When reading Giftly reviews, it helps to understand how Giftly works and what to expect when sending or redeeming a gift. If you have a specific question, our Help Center and current terms provide the most up-to-date information. You can also view Giftly's BBB Business Profile for additional customer feedback and company information.
Is Giftly legit?
Yes. Giftly was founded in 2010 and is a venture-backed fintech company that works with and has been vetted by Visa, Mastercard, and multiple banking partners. Each year, Giftly undergoes multiple bank-level audits to ensure legal, regulatory, and security compliance. Over the years, Giftly has sold millions of gifts and has customers that trust us with gifts for their most important moments.
Giftly is a prepaid gift platform that allows people to send money as a gift. Recipients decide how to receive and how to spend that money. Unclaimed gift funds are held by our issuing bank until the gifts are redeemed or cancelled so you can rest assured your money is safe.
What do I show the suggested business when I want to use my Giftly?
A Giftly must first be accessed and redeemed online. Recipients won’t show or bring their Giftly Gift to the suggested business. When they go to the merchant, they’ll pay like normal. This is an important thing to know.
Your recipient does not show the Giftly email, printout, or activation code to the suggested business as payment. They redeem through Giftly first, get the gifted money through one of the available options, and then pay the business like any normal customer would: credit card, debit card, cash, whatever the business accepts.
The business included with a gift name is a suggestion. It shows your recipient where you think they should go to spend the gifted money
Sometimes recipients will mistakenly hand over a Giftly code or print out at the register, this doesn’t work because only the recipient can redeem the Giftly and receive the associated money. We do our best to explain this in the recipient experience and we have a dedicated, in-house support team to help recipients who need assistance redeeming.
How is Giftly delivery handled?
You choose how your gift will be delivered during the checkout process. Several delivery options are available:
Email: deliver to their inbox. It can go out right away or on a later date.
Text: get it to them fast ; standard carrier rates may apply.
Physical mail: Giftly prints and mails a real greeting card for an extra fee.
Print at home: you download it and give it in person.
Email and text gifts include a link to open the gift. Mailed and printed gifts include an activation code your recipient enters on Giftly's website.
What if the Giftly email or text never arrives?
You can resend or update delivery details through the order confirmation page. There is a link to the order confirmation page in the purchase confirmation email you’ll have received after purchase. If you have any trouble, the Giftly Support Center can help you resend. Since sometimes Giftly emails get sent to spam folders, we suggest sending gifts via text message when they aren’t initially delivered by email; you might also nudge the recipient to check their spam folder.
How does Giftly redemption work?
Your recipient opens the gift, hits Redeem, and signs in to Giftly or creates a free account. Then they pick how they want to collect it:
A transfer to a U.S. bank account
A transfer to a PayPal account
A virtual or physical prepaid Visa® or Mastercard® gift card
Each option has its own funds delivery timing and terms.
Why might a purchase or redemption be reviewed?
Giftly and our banking partners take precautions to ensure purchases and redemptions are legitimate and to protect our customers and platform from fraud and misuse. While most of this happens behind the scenes, occasionally, Giftly or its banking partner will take an extra look at a purchase or redemption. When this happens, you'll get a message with the specific next steps.
If you get that message, follow its instructions. The vast majority of reviews are cleared by answering simple, straightforward questions about your gift.
How long does it take to receive the money?
It depends on the redemption method. The timeframe for each method will be shown to the recipient during the redemption process, but generally: virtual prepaid cards take a day or less, bank transfers and PayPal can take one to two business days; physical gift cards arrive in about 10 days.
Can the sender cancel a Giftly and get a refund?
Yes, if the gift hasn't been redeemed and it’s been less than 90-day since purchase, the sender can cancel the gift and receive a full refund (minus shipping and handling costs for gifts that are sent by mail). The gift value and purchase fee may be returned to your original payment method.
Once a gift has been redeemed, it's no longer eligible for cancellation. Use the Order Details link in your purchase receipt or go to the Giftly Help Center to start the process. The Giftly Prepaid Gift Agreement has the full terms.
What if I see an unrecognized Giftly charge?
Email billing@giftly.com or leave a voicemail at 800-566-9669. Don't post full card details in a public review or complaint. Note: it is much faster to inform Giftly and have us reverse the charge, than contacting your bank and initiating a dispute.
Do Giftly Prepaid Gifts expire or have inactivity fees?
No. Giftly Prepaid Gifts don't expire and there are no inactivity fees; the value stays the same whether your recipient redeems in a week or a year.
What if a Giftly Gift Card is declined, lost, or stolen?
Declined: Check the available balance through the Giftly Card Management portal or by calling the number on the back of the card. If the balance is fine and the card still won't work, email support@giftly.com.
Lost or stolen: Visit the Giftly Card Management portal and freeze the card. You can report the card as lost or stolen and request a replacement. You can also contact support and they can take care of this for you.
How do I contact Giftly customer service?
Start with the Help Center where many questions can be answered and where you’ll be able to access many self-service tools. For instance, you can:
check on a gift’s delivery status
make changes to your gift
resend a gift
re-deliver a gift through a new delivery method
cancel a gift
However, we have a dedicated, in-house support team also available to help.
Contact support by emailing support@giftly.com or leaving a voicemail at 800-566-9669. Include the email address or order number linked to the gift. When you reach out, a quick summary of what happened and what you've already tried helps the team get to a resolution faster. Never include a full payment card number in email, voicemail, or any public channel.
